DWAY Projects is a Cape Town based steel fabrication, gate automation and construction company. For more than 15 years we have manufactured and installed security gates, burglar bars, fencing, balustrades and structural steel — and automated the gates and doors that go with them.
Everything is built by our own hands. We measure on site, fabricate in our workshop, install with our own teams and return to service what we fit. One point of accountability, from the first site visit to the final handover.
Wayne Pienaar, our director and operations manager, runs the sites himself — so the person who quotes your job is the person who sees it through.
- One contractor, three trades. Steel, automation and building under a single quote, a single schedule and a single invoice.
- Manufactured, not adapted. Gates and bars are made to your opening, not cut down from a stock size.
- We service what we sell. Motors, intercoms and access control are supported long after installation, including out of warranty.
- Straight quoting. Written and itemised, so you can see what the steel, the motor and the labour each cost.
- We clean up. Rubble removed, brickwork made good, and the site left the way we would want to find it.
- Repairs welcome. We service and repair gates and motors we did not originally install.
Steel fabrication & security gates
Every gate, bar and railing we supply is manufactured for the opening it goes into. We work in mild steel, tubing, flat and square bar, and aluminium, finished to survive the Cape climate — hot-dip galvanised, primed and enamelled, or powder coated in the colour of your choice.

Coastal and exposed properties are best served by hot-dip galvanising followed by a powder coat or two-pack system; sheltered inland properties can generally be primed and enamelled at lower cost. Colour matching to existing steelwork, window frames or estate design codes is available on request.

We install, repair and service automation on gates, garage doors and access points. Whether you need a motor fitted to an existing gate, a failed unit replaced, or full access control for a complex, we supply and support the major brands available in South Africa.

Automated gates are machinery, and we install them accordingly: safety beams, correct force settings and anti-crush clearances are fitted as standard, not offered as extras. Where load shedding is a factor we size the backup to the gate and the schedule in your area. And we will tell you honestly when a tired motor is worth repairing and when replacement is the cheaper route.

Enquiry & site visit
You call, WhatsApp or email. We book a site visit at a time that suits you and take our own measurements.
Written quotation
An itemised quote covering material, finish, motor, labour and VAT, with options priced separately so you can compare.
Design & approval
Drawings or reference images for anything custom. Nothing is cut until you have signed off the design, finish and opening direction.
Workshop fabrication
Steel is cut, welded, ground and finished in our workshop, then galvanised, painted or powder coated to specification.
Installation
Our own teams fit, level, wire and commission on site. Rubble is removed and the area is left clean and made good.
Handover & aftercare
We walk you through operation, remotes and safety features, hand over the warranty and stay available for servicing.
If something we manufactured or installed fails within its warranty period, we come back and fix it. No call-out charge, no argument.
